Roxanna-Lorraine Witt – Director of Save Space e.V., focusing on interdisciplinarity, inclusion, digitalization, and empowerment

Roxanna-Lorraine Witt was born in 1993 into a Sinti family in Minden, Germany. She studied marine biotechnology before taking over as head of the education department at the Documentation and Cultural Centre of German Sinti and Roma.

Roxy grew up in a household without a father, surrounded by strong women and female role models, such as her grandmother, a Holocaust survivor. During her studies, she was confronted with anti-Roma racism—fellow students anonymously sent her images of Hitler. Despite this, she stood strong and resisted the hate. Today, she is co-founder of the association Save Space, which focuses on cross-sectoral collaboration, inclusion, digitalization, and youth culture, as well as co-founder of the digital platform RomaSintiWireOnline.

In her work, she addresses online radicalization processes and regularly gives lectures on topics related to anti-racist work. Roxanna amplifies the voices of many Romani and Sinti women and believes that those directly affected are experts in their own lived realities—and, as such, possess the highest level of competence when it comes to shaping effective solutions.
